Instagram Lite

Instagram just launched a new lightweight app for low-end Android devices for developing countries. The new Instagram lite is easy to download, install and browse on low space devices. It is work in spotty connection.

According to techcrunch report, the new app is just 573KB in size. While Instagram main app is 32MB in size and run on Android 5.0 Lollipop and above. As it is lite weight app you will find lighter functionality  on app, you can’t upload video or can’t message on this lite weight app. The main goal of app is to target millions of users from developing countries who still uses low end smartphones.

How to download and install Instagram lite on low-end Android devices

  1. Go to Google Play Store
  2. Search for “Instagram Lite”.
  3. Click on Install.
  4. After installation click on open and start the using app.

As mentioned on Google Play Store,  you can use Instagram Lite to:
• Post photos you want to keep on your profile grid and edit them with filters.
• Share multiple photos to your story. Bring them to life with text. They disappear after 24 hours and won’t appear on your profile grid or in feed.
• Watch stories from the people you follow in a bar at the top of your feed.
• Discover stories, photos and videos you might like and follow new accounts on the Explore tab.
• Coming soon, you will be able to message friends and share videos as well.

On Instagram lite you can’t send and receive direct messages. New IGTV feature is also missing on Instagram lite. Advance search box is also not come with Instagram lite app. The app is lite weight and build for low-end Android devices so missing features are not big deal. If you are user of low-end Android device then hurry up and download the Instagram lite form Google Play Store.
