New Gmail update is available for everyone now. If you don’t know how to get new Gmail design update then don’t be panic, in the previous article I wrote about how to switch to the new Gmail right now. Just follow the steps given in that article and you will able to get new Gmail design update. I already enable new Gmail design and now we are talking about- hands-on Gmail redesign.

New Gmail design update brings a lot of new features to Gmail. It includes customizable inbox view, suggested replies and follow-ups on received emails, snooze emails and, organize emails from your inbox. Let’s see one by one how new features are works.

Hands-On Gmail Redesign-How To Use New Gmail Interface

As I mentioned earlier you can switch to new Gmail look easily. If you are still bothered about how to try new Gmail then here I am writing again about how to try the new Gmail.

How to get new Gmail (Hands-on Gmail redesign)

  1. Go to the Gmail on your computer.
  2. Login to your Gmail account.
  3. In the top right, select Settings (Gear like icon)
  4. Click on Try the new Gmail 

How to choose a view for your inbox in new Gmail

While switching to new Gmail you will get the option to choose the view for your new Gmail inbox. You have a default, comfortable and compact option to choose for your new Gmail inbox.

  1. Click on settings, in the top right gear like icon
  2. Select ”display density”

Select default, comfortable or compact view option as per your wish.If you want a preview of your attachments from your inbox then you have to select ‘Default’ view option for your inbox and rest is on your choice.

How to show or hide the menu in new Gmail inbox

You can show or hide your new Gmail inbox main menu which is located on the left-hand side. To make space for previewing your email, you can expand or shrink your inbox view by clicking on Main Menu option.

How to View Calendar, Tasks, Keep & Add-ons in new Gmail inbox

The best thing about new Gmail is now you can use and view calendar, tasks, keep and add-ons along with Gmail inbox. You can access these all option on the right of your new Gmail inbox.

Calendar: You can create or edit an event or you can jump to the upcoming event using calendar option. You can add your daily schedule to the calendar and view it to keep track. If you have the busy working schedule then the calendar is the best option for you to keep close track of your work.

Keep: If you are using Google keep then this option is for you. You can create checklists and take notes using keep. Google keep is a standalone app to take notes so if you are using Google keep app or web version then you can access your notes or checklist from keep option in your new Gmail inbox.

Tasks: If you work on the deadline then this option for you folk. You can add to-do list and deadlines using tasks. You can sort tasks by date, my order. You can also rename your tasks list.

Get Add-ons: Using this option you can add extra add-ons tool to your new Gmail to help manage your mail. You can find all kind of add-ons for example business tools, productivity tools, education, communications and, utility tools for manage your mail.

How to organize emails from your new Gmail inbox

Now you can take quick actions on messages without opening them in your inbox. You can archive, delete, mark as unread or read and, snooze them if you want to snooze. This is a very impressive feature of new Gmail and it will save your valuable time which you spend on organize emails in your inbox. 

How to snooze email in new Gmail inbox

Yes, you heard it right you can snooze mail in your new Gmail inbox. It means you can postpone emails to a future date or time that’s more suitable for you.

  1. Hover over your mouse cursor on email which you want to snooze.
  2. And you will see snooze option at the right of selected email.
  3. Click on snooze.
  4. Select a later day and time to get the email.
  5. If you want you can also pick snooze date and time as per your wish.

You can snooze multiple emails too, just select the messages. At the top, click Snooze. If you snoozed someone’s mail, it will stay in ‘snoozed’ folder until you move it to the inbox. You can find snoozed emails in ‘Snoozed’ folder. To find it, go to the main menu and select ‘Snoozed’ and you will get here all snoozed emails.

Smart Reply feature

If you find difficult to reply emails or in short with words, let Google answer for you.Smart Reply feature checks incoming email and suggests three possible replies for simple enough conversations. and it is your hands-on Gmail redesign.

How to go back to classic Gmail/ old Gmail

In case you don’t like new Gmail design update, then don’t be worry you can switch back to classic Gmail or your old Gmail inbox.

  1. Click on settings, on top right gear like symbol.
  2. Select ‘Go back to classic Gmail’.
