This is the second part of the Top 10 features of Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Make sure you have read our first part of Top 10 features. While the first part was all about the things we didn’t expect from Samsung, this part is about the features which we knew that Samsung would include in its latest flagships for sure. So, here’s what we were almost certain about.

1. Specifications

No surprises here. Samsung is known for devices with top of the line specifications, and the S6 and S6 Edge are no different. Both comes with Samsung’s 14nm Exynos 7420 chipset with 64 bit architecture which is potentially the most powerful chipset in the market. The octa core CPU consists of a quad core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57 coupled with Mali-T760 GPU and 3 GB of RAM. A QHD display, 16 MP and 5 MP rear and front cameras, in built storage of up to 128 GB, Buletooth 4.1, NFC, Infrared, heart rate monitor and more, everything that you expect from a 2015 flagship is included. And the fact that almost all wireless radios are supported means that we have a beast here.

2. Camera

Again a department in which Samsung is known for being there with the best. Previous flagships from Samsung were the best when it comes to camera and it’s the same this time. A 16 MP primary camera which produces high quality crisp images and f/1.9 aperture which ensures better focus and low light performance. 5 MP front facing camera also comes with f/1.9 aperture. Rear camera is capable of recording UHD  and slow motion videos coupled with Optical Image Stabilization, this camera unit has the potential of grabbing multiple awards in 2015.

3. Display

A 5.1 inch QHD Super AMOLED display with pixel density of 577 ppi and brightness level above 600 nits will certainly be one of the best displays in the market. Galaxy Note 4’s and Galaxy S5’s displays were declared the best displays by DisplayMate at that time, so Samsung has the reputation of coming up with the best display and it seems this time too there has been no compromise with regards to display quality.

4. Storage

There’s no option for memory expansion which is a huge disappointment, but there is no 16 GB version either. Including a 128 GB variant is also a great move, though the price maybe too high. Samsung has also brought forth Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 2.0 with reading speeds ranging 725 MB/s to 1.4 GB/s which is currently the fastest flash memory on mobile devices.

5. Charging

Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge comes with native support for wireless charging which works with any wireless pad available in the market that supports WPC and PMA standards. Fast charging is also supported via its microUSB 2.0 port and it promises 4 hours of regular usage with just 10 minutes of wired charging!

Overall, Samsung has come up with a great device which will probably put an end to its sales decline of recent past. With competition getting stronger day by day, it was the least that we could expect from Samsung, and they have delivered. Not without any disappointments either, but things look brighter for the company, and that’s good news for the Korean tech giant.
