Another option that you might have noticed is clearing cache partition of your phone. Now, there is an option to clear cache of the applications in your device, but that is a different thing. Application cache is a temporary memory, just like thumbnails in gallery, which the system will access so that the applications open and load quickly. Clearing application cache is very simple and it is often recommended, but it’s of no use if your phone lags.

System cache is similar to application cache, just like application stores necessary things for faster access, the system stores certain files so that it does not have to access external memory each time. When the device gets older, the cache may get cluttered with system files which may be unnecessary. But, clearing the system cache is very different from clearing app cache. And it’s simple only if you understand the process properly. (Clearing cache is recommended after each time you perform a system upgrade)

Keep in mind that the following steps are meant to be performed on Motorola devices (Moto X,G,E, Droid Turbo and Nexus 6) only. The steps include certain combination and pattern of pressing the hardware keys, and it differs from device to device. The clearing doesn’t wipe your app data, but one wrong press here or there and you may end up with a completely formatted device! So, be careful with each steps.
